Six licences suspended, 14-year-old driver charged at R.I.D.E. checkpoints in Niagara

The Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program in St. Catharines and Welland resulted in six licence suspensions and an unlicenced driving charge for a 14-year-old driver.

The Niagara Regional Police stopped around 425 drivers during the program on Saturday.

According to officers, a 14-year-old boy was stopped in Niagara Falls during their transition from Welland to St. Catharines for suspicion of impaired driving. The teen was charged with unlicenced driving.

Police also arrested a 46-year-old man from Welland for impaired driving.

A total of 20 vehicles were stopped to request breath samples for analysis.

Other charges include a driver who was operating a vehicle with a suspended licence and various traffic related offences.
