Police investigate shooting on Stoney Creek Mountain

Hamilton police are investigating after a teenager was shot in a residential neighbourhood on Stoney Creek Mountain.

Police were called to Candlewood Dr. near Rymal Rd. and Upper Centennial Parkway around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Investigators learned several people in the area heard gunshots followed by “a brief disturbance.”

Members of the tactical response unit and K9 unit searched the area but no suspects were found.

Police were later notified that an 18-year-old man showed up at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. They say his injuries were non-life threatening.

Police believe the incident was targeted.

It is the city’s 14th shooting so far in 2020.

Investigators are looking for anyone that may have witnessed the incident to come forward. Residents in the area of Candlewood Dr. and Foxmeadow Dr. are being asked to review surveillance footage from their home security cameras for any suspicious activity.
