Do not be alarmed if you hear the sound of an alarm near Hamilton’s McMaster University on Wednesday morning.

The postsecondary school says it will be testing its campus Siren Alert and Alertus Notification systems around 10:20 a.m.

At that time, campus community members with the McMaster Safety App installed on their smartphone will receive notice of this testing.

The outdoor and indoor sirens will then be tested.

For indoor sirens, people will hear a recorded message saying “this is a test”, followed by a full volume siren “wail.”

The indoor siren test will take place in the McMaster University Student Centre, Michael G. DeGroote Centre for Learning and Discovery, David Braley Athletic Centre and Ivor Wynne Centre.
