11 victims attacked by a dog in Hamilton, owner arrested

Hamilton police have arrested a 32-year-old woman in the city’s east end after a dog attacked 11 victims on Thursday.

Officers say that they were called shortly after 7 p.m. to 1042 Barton St. East concerning a dog attack.

Upon arrival, police found numerous victims of the attack in what they described as a “chaotic scene.”

Police say a 32-year-old dog owner let her dog loose and was encouraging it to attack the victims.

The dog continued to be aggressive and moved towards officers, police then shot the dog to ensure the safety of everyone involved – the dog died on scene.

There were 11 victims as a result of this incident. The victims had varying injuries from minor to serious with two requiring surgery.

The woman is facing six counts of criminal negligence cause bodily harm, four counts of utter threat to cause death or bodily hard, and assault with weapon.

Police say the accused remains in custody and the name can not be released.
