The City of St. Catharines closed its facilities on Friday and will remain closed on Saturday due to the winter storm.

Here is a list of facilities that will be closed in St. Catharines:

  • City Hall, Enterprise Centre and administrative offices
  • St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre
  • Russell Avenue Community Centre and Port Weller Community Centre
  • The Dunlop Drive and West St. Catharines Older Adult Centres
  • St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
  • Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre
  • Bill Burgoyne Arena

The city says in anticipation of poor conditions, the St. Catharines Farmers Market will be canceled on Dec. 24 as well.

A warming centre will be open from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Market Square on Friday to protect vulnerable populations in the community, says the city.

Environment Canada’s winter storm warning for the area remains in effect, with extreme winds and snowfall expected anywhere between five to 15 cm by Saturday morning.

To report unsafe, slippery dangerous conditions, fallen tree limbs and other roads and sewer issues, including backups, call 905.688.5600.
