The perfect holiday cocktail for holiday festivities

Looking for the perfect holiday cocktail for your upcoming festivities? Founder and CEO of Zirkova Vodka, Katherine Vellinga, gave us some inspiration.

Vellinga says Zirkova Vodka is rooted in her rich Canadian-Ukrainian heritage and says she made it her mission to create her own brand to sell exclusively in Ontario. 

There are two types of Zirkova Vodka. One is meant more for people who enjoy having a spirit-forward experience and the other is for people who like to mix vodka into cocktails. 

“[The reason we have the two] is because it’s all about honouring all the different ways we like to enjoy,” said Vellinga.

She joined us this morning with some holiday twists on classic cocktails. 

She says you can make your own limoncello at home with lemon peels and Zirkova. It is as simple as pouring an entire bottle of Zirkova Vodka into a jug full of lemon peels. 

She says to store the jar in a cool dark place for a minimum of four days, or a maximum of one month. Afterward, strain the vodka through cheesecloth and add simple syrup to taste.

A twist Vellinga likes to do is pouring an ounce of Zirkova One Vodka into a shaker, followed by half an ounce of vermouth and lastly an ounce of the homemade limoncello. Next, stir and pour. Finally, garnish with dill.
