Hamilton police have charged a local woman with the sale of stun guns at a variety store she owns in the city.

The Major Drugs and Gangs Unit began investigating allegations in September that the guns were being sold at Tabby’s Variety at 419 King St. East.

On Friday, investigators executed a search warrant at the business and seized seven stun guns from behind the sales counter.

Police say that the owner was arrested without incident and has been charged with weapons trafficking and possession of a weapon for the purpose of trafficking.

She was released on an undertaking.

Anyone with information about the unlawful sale or trafficking of prohibited weapons is asked to contact the Major Drugs and Gangs Unit at 905-546-3887.
