Experts say gas prices in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and the Golden Horseshoe are expected to drop to the lowest in months on Wednesday.

Research from Canadians for Affordable Energy indicates gas prices are set to drop significantly, offering drivers relief at the pumps.

Price predictions say Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and Niagara will have regular unleaded gas prices drop by 11 cents a litre.

Premium gas prices are also projected to drop by 11 cents a litre.

As for diesel, transport truck drivers can expect a drop of 12 cents a litre.

“The battle between Russia and Ukraine, we’re often seeing their production facilities also targeted and put offline and so this sort of up and down has a lot to do with volatility that we only see during these kind of energy crises,” said Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy.

“It really means in the short term that one day’s drop could be followed by a significant almost equal increase and that’s why Wednesday is the best day to fill up because Thursday we could see gas going up five or six cents a litre.”
