A Caledon, Ont. man has been arrested and charged following a sexual assault investigation in Burlington, say police.

Authorities say in April 2026, a teenage girl contacted police to report being sexually assaulted by a man at a Burlington residence.

This led to an investigation where officers learned that the girl responded to a Kijiji advertisement posted by the accused seeking cleaning assistance at a construction site.

The victim accepted the position and met with the accused who then transported her to a residence undergoing renovations. Police say this is where the assault occurred.

They add the victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

As a result of the investigation, on Oct. 26, 2026, 51-year-old Varinder Chahal was arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault.

According to investigators, Chahal was working as a contractor under the company name “Chahal Renovations” at the time of the assault. Operating under this guise, he hired the victim to assist with general cleaning duties at the residence where the assault took place.

Authorities are concerned there may be more victims.

Anyone with information relevant to this investigation, or anyone who has been victimized by Chahal is asked to contact police at 905-825-4777, ext. 8970.

Halton police say, “there is no statute of limitation when it comes to reporting a sexual assault. This means that no matter how long ago the sexual assault happened, you can still report it to police for investigation.”

They add that victims of sexual assault can contact 905-825-4777 for support. More information can be found on the Survivors Voice website.
