Many residents in Hamilton’s east end were startled awake by a blaring noise early Tuesday morning.
A distress call was heard going off around 2 a.m. for about 45 minutes from a docked ship at the city’s waterfront.
Hamilton police say the volume was so loud that they got calls ranging from Bay Street to Hamilton Mountain.
Officers say the vessel was undergoing a pressure wash when the alarm was set off.
