OPP investigate after 50-year-old found in Simcoe house fire dies in hospital

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after a fire at a home on Orchard Avenue in Simcoe Monday afternoon and the death of a 50-year-old who was found in the residence.

Officers say Norfolk County emergency crews responded to reports of a fire at an address on Orchard Avenue at around 1 p.m.

They say firefighters were able to enter the residence, where they found the 50-year-old individual.

Despite life-saving efforts, the person was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police have not provided any information on the identity of the person, or the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Norfolk County OPP says they will work with the Office of the Fire Marshall and the Office of the Chief Coroner as they continue to investigate.
