Everything you need to know about Norfolk County’s 2026 municipal election

Norfolk County residents will go to the polls to cast their votes for the city’s next mayor and other municipal officials on Oct. 26, 2026.

Amy Martin, the current mayor of Norfolk County, will not be seeking reelection after four years in the role. Martin has told constituents that she is focused on parenthood after welcoming a new baby earlier this year.

The deadline to submit or withdraw nominations was Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.

Candidates are listed alphabetically by last name alongside a brief bio. This page will be updated regularly as the race develops, and individual ward candidate lists will follow the same format.

Norfolk County’s mayoral race

• Doug Brunton’s first term as Ward 5 councillor was from 2014 to 2018. He was reelected as councillor in 2022.
• David Finch
• Ken Gilpin
• Noel Haydt served as the Ward 1 councillor from 2014 to 2018. He says he has more than two decades of experience working in technology infrastructure and operations. Haydt’s platform focuses on realistic budgeting, development, transparent financial reporting and more.
• Ken Hewitt served as the mayor of Haldimand County from 2010 to 2022. Hewitt is hoping his mayoral experience will help him gain the advantage in this year’s race. His platform focuses on affordability, accountability, infrastructure and more. 
• Keith Milner comes to the race with experience as a small business owner and a former RCMP staff sergeant. His platform focuses on fiscal accountability, public safety, small business and more.
• Adam Veri has been the Ward 6 councillor since 2022.
