Canadian, American mayors of Niagara Falls join together for 9/11 ceremony

The mayors of both the Canadian and American communities of Niagara Falls joined together Friday to mourn those lost in the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

“I’m here to say thank you,” said Robert Restaino, the mayor of Niagara Falls, N.Y. “Thank you to the country of Canada for what they did that day. Thank you to our neighbours across the river who continue to be great friends and supporters and it is an honour to spend this moment with you to remember all that we mean to one another.”

“I think it’s important that we all come together to celebrate this ceremony as two great nations coming together as one,” said Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati. “This is a very important thing, eyes of the world are on us today.”
