Over 170 wildfires burning in Ontario, many in remote areas

Ten new wildfires have been reported in Ontario, bringing the overall number to 172, with many in isolated areas.

The fires are primarily in the province’s northwest region, with some in northern Ontario.

Thirty-two are out of control — 12 are under control — and eight are being held by fire crews.

One hundred and twenty fires are being observed by provincial officials due to their remoteness.

Thousands of people remain displaced by the fires, and many evacuation and restriction orders are still in effect.
