Hamilton’s Mountain Drive Park is expected to partially reopen on Saturday after being closed for two years due to soil contamination.

The city has blocked off the perimeter of Mountain Drive Park on the mountain after soil testing results failed to meet provincial standards, showing high levels of zinc and petroleum,

The park is located at 935 Concession Street near the Mountain Brow trail and has been undergoing a multi-year renewal project originally expected to finish by December.

The City of Hamilton says a portion of the eastern side of the park will reopen to the public where the soil meets provincial safety standards and the washroom will be accessible again.
