Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a multi-vehicle crash in St. Catharines that sent five people to the hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

On Monday, OPP responded to a collision involving four vehicles just before 2 a.m.

Officers say Highway 406 between Westchester Crescent and Glendale Avenue, along with the Highway 406 on-ramp, were initially closed but reopened around 6:10 a.m.

Investigators say the cause of the crash and the extent of the injuries have yet to be released.
