Hamilton firefighters were called to a suspected structure fire in Farmborough Thursday morning after reports of smoke and flames in the area.
Firefighters arrived at 1996 Concession 4 West at around 10:44 a.m. where they saw a residence with smoke and flame showing from the outside.
Hamilton Fire Deputy Chief Trevor Haalstra said in a statement that the occupants of the home were able to self-evacuate and no injuries have been reported.
The home sustained significant damage estimated to be around $800,000.
Haalstra says it is suspected that the fire was due to an electrical issue.
The road was briefly closed off to shuttle in water to the rural area, but the roads were reopened at around 3 p.m.
