Toronto man arrested in Niagara overdose fatality

A Toronto man has been charged in relation to the fatal overdose of a man in St. Catharines in January.

On Jan. 28, Niagara police responded to a residence in the area of Lloyd and Rykert streets after a report of the sudden death of a 37-year-old man.

The investigation was taken over by the NRPS Opioid Enforcement and Education Unit, which initiated a parallel investigation into the criminal activity and drug trafficking that allegedly contributed to the man’s death.

Anthony Clarke, 37, was arrested on July 13 during a traffic stop and later charged with manslaughter in the January death, along with drug trafficking.

Niagara police seized over $13,000 worth of illegal drugs for the purpose of trafficking during the arrest.
