Halton police have arrested and laid multiple charges following an investigation into a series of copper thefts in Milton and Halton Hills.
Since the beginning of this year, multiple copper thefts have been reported to police in Milton and Halton Hills, resulting in investigators launching Project Element in April.
On June 6, police responded to a fire in the area of Eighth Line and 5 Side Road in Milton, where they located a suspect burning the insulation off stolen copper cable in preparation for its sale.
Officers say the suspect fled the scene but they arrested him on June 9.

Stewart Winney,41, of Milton is facing eight charges including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and theft over $5,000.
Winney was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
