Boil Water Advisory issued for Six Nations after watermain break

A Boil Water Advisory has been issued Thursday evening due to a watermain break for those connected to the waterline in the Six Nations of the Grand River community.

This advisory was issued around 6:30 p.m. as a loss of water pressure can increase the risk of contaminants entering the drinking water distribution system.

As a safety measure, community officials are advising residents to boil any water they plan to drink to cook with for one minute until the advisory is lifted.

Six Nations Public Works crews are currently investigating and repairing the watermain break, restoring normal water pressure and assessing the integrity of the drinking water system.

This advisory will last until the watermain is fixed, pressure is back to normal and the water quality has been confirmed as safe through appropriate testing.

Residents will be notified when the advisory has been lifted.
