The Ontario government says construction has officially begun on the long-awaited Grimsby GO station.

The province says the new train station will have one platform, 220 parking spaces, a bus loop and a pick-up and drop-off area.

The train station is expected to be added on to the existing Casablanca Boulevard GO bus stop, where the pick-up and drop-off area already exists.

The Grimsby stop along the Lakeshore West line is a part of the province’s efforts to support increased GO train service to the Niagara region.
