Hundreds still without power in downtown Hamilton

A large portion of downtown Hamilton was without power for most of Sunday, with 274 customers still affected.

Alectra Utilities reports the outage happened at 7:09 a.m., affecting areas such as Corktown, James Street South, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Charlton Campus and the Hamilton Go Centre.

The company says 5,593 customers were initially affected and the cause of the outage is under investigation.

It reports that power is expected to be restored between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
