Aircraft manufacturer Airbus says it has delivered the first H135 helicopter for Canada’s Future Aircrew Training program, which was customized and completed in Fort Erie.
The aircraft designated the CT-153 Juno for service in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and is part of the effort to modernize pilot training for the RCAF.
The H135 is part of a family with over 1,600 aircraft delivered to more than 325 operators globally. The CT-153 Juno will support the development of core pilot skills including basic ab-initio, advanced instrument flight rules and tactical training.
This delivery makes the RCAF one of 13 militaries worldwide, including several close allies, to train its future aircrews on the H135.
Canada’s Juno fleet will be based at 15 Wing Southport with the 3 Canadian Forces Flying Training School.
The program will be operational across Canada in 2028.
