Hamilton police say they’ve arrested a man who is accused of secretly recording people in private settings for nearly two decades.

Detectives say the investigation began Saturday after video recordings involving the accused man were discovered by a witness.

After a review of the materials, detectives believe the recordings were captured using hidden cameras in spaces where “individuals had a reasonable expectation of privacy.”

Investigators found recordings believed to have been created between 2007 and 2025.

Officers arrested 40-year-old Jason Machado of Hamilton and charged him with three counts of voyeurism.

Police continue to review recordings from the accused’s many secret cameras in an effort to identify anyone who may have been affected.

Anyone who thinks they may have information connected to the investigation or who may have made contact with the accused in private situations are asked to contact Det. Const. Zach Walters at 905-546-8968 or CID30@hamiltonpolice.ca.
