Man, 18, charged in targeted shooting in Oakville last month

Halton police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with an early morning shooting that happened in Oakville just over two weeks ago.

Officers say one man was left with non-life-threatening injuries after a targeted shooting on March 29 near Lakeshore Road and Fourth Line.

Authorities have charged 18-year-old Jayon Burgher of Barrie with careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, use of a firearm while committing an offence, discharging a firearm with intent, possessing a weapon with a dangerous purpose and mischief to property over $5,000.

Detectives believe the shooting to be targeted and are continuing to search for additional suspects.

Police have held the accused in custody ahead of a bail hearing.
