Hamilton Mountain MP Lisa Hepfner made a funding announcement at the Woodland Cultural Centre Brantford Friday morning.

She spoke on behalf of Canadian Identity and Culture Minister Marc Miller.

During the announcement, Hepfner said that the culture centre would be receiving $67,766 through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund to support a feasibility study for the Dwadę’nyota’ Dwaga:’shǫ:’ǫh “We Celebrate our Stories” project.

The funding will come as the centre’s infrastructure will eventually need to be renovated to accommodate new spaces for creation, dissemination and exhibition.

The project began a capital campaign in June 2024 to raise $65 million for a transformative new museum and gallery building, and a hub for Haudenosaunee knowledge and Indigenous culture.
