The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recalling infant formula sold at Costco over safety concerns.
The formula, made by U.K.-based brand Kendamil, may contain cereulide toxin, produced by a bacteria that can cause food poisoning.
Cereulide is highly heat stable, meaning even cooking the formula won’t remove the toxin.
Symptoms can appear quickly and include nausea and vomiting, though no illnesses have been reported in Canada.
The CFIA warns parents not to use, serve, or sell the formula and advises it be discarded or returned to the store.
Nestlé and Danone also recently issued baby formula recalls in other countries due to the possible contamination of the same toxin.
