Another gold medal has been added to the board for Canada after a win in the women’s speedskating team pursuit at the Milan-Cortina Olympics.
The Netherlands were defeated by the defending champions, Canadians Valérie Maltais, Ivanie Blondin and Isabelle Weidemann.
This victory makes it the first time since 2010 that a country has claimed first place at consecutive Olympic Games.
It was Canada’s third gold at the Games and 12th medal.
Looking local, Brantford’s Trennt Michaud and figure skating partner from Milton, Lia Pereira, finished eight in the individual pairs event Monday.
This was the pairs’ Olympic debut.
