The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have re-signed quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell to a two-year deal, keeping the well-decorated player in black and gold through the 2027 season.

The 35-year-old Katy, Texas native will be adding to his Canadian Football League career with another two years with the Ticats after a remarkable season leading the team through the playoffs.

This year, Mitchell ranked eighth on the CFL’s all-time passing list and became the fastest quarterback in the league’s history to achieve 100 career wins.

The quarterback started all 18 games for the Tiger-Cats, completing over two-thirds of his pass attempts (over 68 per cent) and made 36 touchdowns.

Adding onto his lengthy career resume, one of the most decorated players in CFL history was named the East Division Most Outstanding Player for a second year in a row, led in the league in passing touchdowns for a fourth time and the back-to-back leader in passing yards.

Earlier this year, after the Tiger-Cats’ close but disappointing loss against the Montreal Alouettes in the league’s East Final, Mitchell said he would consult with his family before deciding to re-sign.

The quarterback said in a statement that he was excited to get back into the game and with the team.

“We have an amazing team, an amazing organization and amazing people around us,” said Mitchell. “It’s one of the best locker rooms I’ve ever been a part of, and I love going to work every day.”

“Bo reflects the qualities we want to continue building this organization around,” said Orlondo Steinauer, Tiger-Cats’ president of football operations.

“He sets the standard every day with his preparation, leadership and toughness, and he’s exactly the kind of quarterback you want to lead your team,” said Ticats’ head coach Scott Milanovich.

“His command of the offence, ability to process in real time, and willingness to be coached elevates everyone around him. Having that kind of presence at quarterback is invaluable.”

The 2026 CFL campaign starts June 4, with the Tiger-Cats hosting the defending divisional champion the Montreal Alouettes.
