Environment Canada issues statements, warnings for Sunday’s wintery weather

Much of our region should expect windy and wintery weather on Sunday.

Environment Canada has issued warnings and special weather statements from Fort Erie to Hamilton to Milton.

Hamilton

Hamilton is under a special weather statement for strong winds. Gusts are expected to reach 60 to 70 km/h.

Halton

The Halton region is split, with Halton Hills and Milton under a snowfall warning. Environment Canada says these areas should expect to see around two to four centimeters of snow. The snow is expected to be wet and may mix with rain.

However closer to Lake Ontario, areas like Oakville and Burlington are under Special Weather Statements for winds with gusts of up to 60 to 70 km/h but will also likely see some snow and precipitation.

Niagara

The Niagara Region is under a warning for strong winds. Lake Erie is expected to produce fierce winds with gusts of up to 80 to 90 km/h.

Haldimand and Norfolk

Parts of the Haldimand and Norfolk regions along the lake are also likely to see similar winds to the Niagara Region, reaching gusts of up to 80 and 90 km/h.
