Hydro One is warning customers of potential extended power outages, as winter storms are expected to impact various regions of the province over the next few days.
The electricity transmission and hydro provider’s website says a winter storm is forecasted to bring high winds and significant amounts of snow to Ontario over the next few days.
They say customers should be prepared by restocking emergency kits with water, non-perishable food and cash and to have a flashlight with new batteries at the ready, as well as a portable phone charger if the power does go out.
Environment Canada reports strong winds to blow through the province, gusting from between 70 to 80 km/h starting Wednesday and ending between Thursday night and Friday morning.
Haldimand County, Norfolk County, and parts of the Niagara region are forecasted to see harsher winds potentially gusting at 90 km/h.
High-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind, and some property damage is possible from loose objects.
Hydro One posted on X Tuesday night that if outages occur, customers can report through their outage map.
