Reggae legend, actor and cultural icon Jimmy Cliff has died at 81.

He helped spread Jamaican sound to the world with hits songs like “The Harder They Come”, and “I Can See Clearly Now.”

His wife Latifa Chambers shared the news on social media early Monday morning.

Cliff is considered one of Jamaica’s greatest musical exports, standing alongside legends like Bob Marley.

Rolling Stone magazine named him among their top 500 artists of all time and he was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

Cliff had been in hospital following a seizure and succumbed to a bout of Pneumonia.

He leaves behind his wife and three children.
