Niagara police appealing to public after man arrested for lewd acts

Niagara police are appealing to the public after a man was arrested for committing indecent acts in St.Catharines, in Grimsby and Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Police say a 58-year-old man had made sexual gestures and comments toward several women at a liquor store in Grimsby.

On another occasion, the man allegedly assaulted a female clerk at a cannabis store in St. Catharines.

In an unrelated incident, the man also threw a bottle of water at a male employee at a farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The suspect has been identified as 58-year-old Kenneth Bettes of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Investigators say they have reason to believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone with information to contact detectives at (905) 688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009011.

Bettes is described as a 6 ft. tall white man weighing approximately 240 lbs. He has a shaved head and grey facial hair.

He faces three counts of Criminal Harassment, Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Indecent Act.

He was held in custody until his bail hearing on Nov. 11.
