Political analyst Keith Leslie says the Auditor General’s damning reports on the Ford government’s spending aren’t all that different from the Greenbelt report in 2023.
“It has such clear echoes of the Greenbelt report from two years ago by the previous Auditor General,” he said.
“This is an application for government money, and the process was not fair, it was not accountable, and it was not transparent.”
“It seemed that some of the applicants, especially those who had hired lobbyists or consultants with connections to the Ford government, were given preferential treatment. Again, exactly like the language used in the Greenbelt report two years ago, which cost Premier Ford two cabinet ministers and forced him to reverse his decisions on the Greenbelt.”
