Boy beaten unconscious while walking in St. Catharines Saturday

Niagara police are investigating after a boy was beaten unconscious by a group of men in St. Catharines on Saturday.

Investigators say a boy was walking on Vine Street near Holden Street in St. Catharines when a group of men got out of a black SUV and attacked him.

Officers say the SUV was parked on Holden Street when the men got out of the car and walked over to the boy.

Police believe one of the suspects was armed with a baseball bat and that the group left in the car driving towards Carlton Street.

The boy was beaten until he was unconscious and remains in serious condition in hospital, according to police.

Detectives are requesting dashcam, cellphone, or surveillance footage recorded between 8:15 p.m. and 8:35 p.m. in the area of Vine and Holden streets that may have captured the incident or the suspects involved.
