Hamilton police have set up a command post at Millgrove Community Centre to further their search for a Dundas man that has been missing for over two months.

Investigators say 62-year-old John Edwards was reported missing on June 11 after leaving his home at St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas.

Police have searched across Hamilton for Edwards, including in Dundas, Flamborough and Waterdown.

Officers say they will be using specialized search methods in the area starting at around 10:00 a.m. including the canine unit and using the help of the ground search and rescue team.

A similar command post was set up back in June at the Millgrove United Church after Edwards was seen around the corner from there on the day he went missing at around 4:10 p.m.

Hamilton police say Edwards has cognitive impairments similar to dementia.

Edwards is described as white, 5 feet 11 inches, around 215 pounds with shoulder length brown hair and brown eyes.

Investigators describe his disappearance as deeply concerning due to his vulnerability and the intense heat the city experienced this summer. Police do not believe foul play is involved.

CHCH News has contacted police for details on why they have set up the command post now and in this location.
