The City of Hamilton broke ground Thursday on a new police and fire station in Waterdown.

The 43,000-square-foot station will be at 20 Parkside Drive and will include a 911 call centre and a collision reporting centre.

The City says this new station is being built with the goal of improving emergency response times and enhancing public safety.

The station is expected to be complete in August of 2027 and the current budget is $41 million.
