Niagara police are investigating after an 82-year-old man has died following a hit-and-run in the Town of Lincoln Thursday.

Officers say Larry Pearce of St. Catharines was at Charles Daley Park at 1955 North Service Road between 9 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. when he tried to leave his car.

Police say he stopped as he was leaving the park and got out of his car, and had an interaction with an unknown number of people.

Investigators say that is when an unknown person got inside Pearce’s vehicle, a 2012 Grey Honda CRV with Ontario License plate “24FS30”.

Detectives say Pearce stood in front of his Honda to try and stop the person from leaving, but the vehicle hit him and was last seen driving eastbound on North Service Road.

Pearce was taken to hospital, but died from his injuries Friday.

The stolen vehicle was last seen entering the QEW Niagara-bound from Seventh Street.

Police are asking anyone with information or video of the time between 9:35 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009450.
