Halton police dog recovering after being shot in paw during robbery investigation

A Halton police dog is recovering after being shot in the paw during a robbery investigation in Burlington on Thursday afternoon.
An officer said that while K9 officers were on scene at a robbery investigation near Burloak Drive and Harvester Road, the dog’s paw “contacted a firearm, which discharged.”
The dog’s paw was injured by the shot. Police say it has received medical attention and is expected to make a full recovery. No other injuries were reported.
Halton police arrested two people in connection to the robbery. They have yet to release any additional information about the investigation, or any details on how the dog’s contact with the gun caused it to fire.
