Ontario introducing financial assistance for businesses, municipalities hit by ice storm in March

The Ontario government says it’s introducing two financial assistance programs for municipalities and businesses that were affected by a severe ice storm in March.
The two one-time programs are designed to help with recovery from the storm, which left over 400,000 homes and businesses with power outages and damaged property.
One will offer assistance to help municipalities pay for emergency response and cleanup costs. The other will provide up to $5 million to help small businesses, farms and not-for-profit organizations pay for cleanup and repairs that aren’t fully covered by private insurance.
The province says eligible businesses and municipalities will have until October 31 to apply.
