YouTube shuts down Hamilton rapist’s creator channels after investigation

YouTube has terminated video channels belonging to a convicted rapist after a query from a Hamilton newspaper launched an investigation into why Hamiltonian Jack Densmore’s accounts were still active.
The Hamilton Spectator reported that it reached out to the social media company on Tuesday to ask why convicted sex offender Jack Densmore was “allowed to create content coaching men on how to meet women.”
The query launched an investigation by YouTube and it cancelled Denmore’s four channels the following day, on May 14.
A statement from the company said that Jack Densmore’s main channel had been shut down for “violation of the company’s Off-Platform Policy.”
“If a YouTube creator’s on- and/or off-platform behavior harms our users, community, employees or ecosystem, we may respond based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the egregiousness of their actions and whether a pattern of harmful behavior exists. Our response will range from suspending a creator’s privileges to account termination,” a YouTube spokesperson said.
Three additional channels owned by Densmore were also terminated.
The thirty-year-old, who went by the name of ‘Jack Denmo’ on YouTube, was found guilty last July of raping a McMaster University student on a first date and sentenced to three years in prison. He is also facing a second sexual assault trial involving another woman.
Densmore published video pranks in which he crashed post-secondary homecoming parties and encouraged students to drink and have sex. He also used the channel to attempt to give advice to young men on how to pick up women.
He is reported to have accounts on other platforms, including Facebook, X, TikTok and Instagram.
