33-year-old man arrested after stabbing in downtown Brantford

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man with no fixed address after a fight Saturday night led to a man getting stabbed in downtown Brantford.
Brantford police officers say a fight broke out at around 10:42 p.m. in the area of Dalhousie and Market Streets, between the victim and a group of people experiencing homelessness.
First responders say they found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds, and brought him to hospital.
Police say the man remains in serious but stable condition.
Detectives say during the investigation an unrelated woman had approached and assaulted them for no apparent reason.
The woman was then taken into custody and charged.
Officers had identified the man who allegedly stabbed the man, and took him into custody.
The 33-year-old man was charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The man was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Police have not disclosed anyone’s names involved with the investigation at this time.
