American gymnast Simone Biles captured bronze in the balance beam final at the Tokyo Olympics.
The 24-year-old returned to competition Tuesday after pulling out of team competition last week citing the need to focus on her mental health.
Biles performed a slightly altered return that did not include many twists but she managed to secure a score of 14.000. She finished behind Guan Chenchen and Tang Xijing of China.
Canada’s Ellie Black finished fourth in the beam final, for her best career individual Olympic result.
Black performed with a sprained ankle and finished with a score of 13.866 points. The total was tied with Sunisa Lee of the United States, but Black finished ahead after receiving a better execution score.
After a gutsy performance from Ellie Black on the beam at #Tokyo2020, she finishes in fourth, for Team Canada’s best ever Olympic result in women’s artistic gymnastics 🤸♀️🤩💪
