Just when you thought the Blue Jays were the toast of Canadian sports talk, a 19-year old rookie for the Toronto Maple Leafs made history in his first NHL game. If you didn’t know the name Auston Matthews before last night, you do now.
The 19 year old from Arizona was selected first overall by the Maple Leafs in last year’s NHL entry draft. He’s being touted as the team’s saviour, and last night in his first NHL game he gave them four reasons to smile. Matthews scored four goals in his debut, something that’s never been in the NHL’s history.
