John Kerry in Ottawa Tuesday afternoon

United States Secretary of State John Kerry is in Ottawa this afternoon and earlier, he laid a wreath at the War Memorial to honour Corporal Nathan Cirillo.

Kerry is also expected to attend a series of meetings in the nation’s capital.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper will join Kerry later in the afternoon, having just attended the funeral for Corporal Cirillo.

They will also be joined by Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird.

Kerry’s visit comes just a day after the conservative government introduced a bill that would give Canada’s spy agency more freedom in authorizing security investigations abroad.
