Union fight to keep home mail delivery heading to court

Canadian postal workers will take their battle to save home delivery to court.

Their union filed a challenge to the Federal Court of Canada under the Charter of Rights and freedoms.

They say the changes violate the rights of seniors and those with disabilities.

In december of last year Canada Post announced that it plans to eliminate home deliveries to 5 million addresses over the next five years.

Roughly 37,000 homes on Hamilton Mountain and Upper Stoney Creek are among the postal codes affected.

The union is also criticizing the federal government for not defining it’s mandate on the matter.
