Decision in 28 year old pay equity case

Canada Post is going to have to pay up in a 28 year-old pay-equity case.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada filed a claim in 1983 that some female employees earned less than men doing comparable jobs.

The Supreme Court has ordered restitution, to the tune of $150 million.

PSAC calls it a hard-won victory for equality, and will press Canada Post to start making retroactive payments to 6,000 current and former workers.
