Man suffers serious injuries in downtown Hamilton stabbing

A man is in hospital with serious injuries following a stabbing in downtown Hamilton.

Police were called to a disturbance in the area of John St. North and Rebecca St. around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officers located a man in his mid-40s suffering from a stab wound.

He was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Hamilton police say a 22-year-old Hamilton resident was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

Investigators are asking residents in the area to check their video surveillance systems for any footage that may help with the investigation.
