Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a man was rushed to hospital in critical condition following an incident involving Niagara police.
Officers responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision on Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls around 2:30 a.m. Monday.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says when officers arrived, the driver fled on foot.
The SIU says police discharged a conducted electrical weapon (CEW) and a 43-year-old man was taken into custody.

According to the SIU, the man became unresponsive and officers administered Narcan as well as performed CPR.
He was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
Investigators are also urging anyone who may have video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
