Ontario reports 3,480 COVID-19 cases and 24 deaths

Ontario reported 3,480 cases of COVID-19 and 24 deaths on Wednesday.

The reported positivity rate is 7.2 per cent, while the province completed 50,194 tests in the last day.

The Ministry of Health says the case counts for some health units, including Hamilton and Niagara, may be higher because of data catch-up process in the system.

Hamilton

  • 16,812 total cases — up 230 from Tuesday
  • 14,540 resolved cases
  • 1,369 active cases
  • 160  in hospital
  • 359 deaths  — up four from Tuesday

  • 14,779 total cases — up 135 from Tuesday
  • 13,680 resolved cases

  • 10,307 resolved cases
  • 2,853 active cases
  • 85 in hospital
  • 391 deaths   — up one from Tuesday

Brant

  • 2,645 total cases — up 16 from Tuesday
  • 2,385 resolved cases
  • 243 active cases
  • 17 deaths
  • 16 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 2,231 total cases — up 19 from Tuesday
  • 1,899 resolved cases
  • 286 active cases
  • 41 deaths

Six Nations

  • 490 total cases
  • 452 resolved cases
  • 28 active cases
  • 1 in hospital
  • 10 deaths

The number of patients in Ontario hospitals with COVID-19 is down to 2,281. There are 877 patients in ICU, with 605 of them on ventilators.

There were 116,173 vaccine doses administered on Tuesday. In total, over 4.9 million doses have been administered across the province.

There are 365,166 people in Ontario who have received both required shots and are vaccinated against COVID-19.
